Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is often used for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and/or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to improve function and productivity in school and home settings. Our behavior therapists use a systematic approach to analyze the child’s behavior. They use the ABC model to observe the antecedent, the behavior, and the consequences. Through the observation, therapists can then create an individualize plan to improve their behavior. ABA helps build life and self-help skills which are crucial in achieving independence. Therapy breaks down skills into smaller tasks through verbal, visual, and other cues. The program is designed and supervised by a certified psychologist and/or behavioural analyst. Each program is customized to best suit the child’s skills, needs, interests, preferences, and family situation. Studies have shown that ABA is particularly effective in treating children with ASD. Most children can make significant progress and can greatly improve their quality of life after early ABA treatment.
