Child / Adolescent Therapy
Psychotherapy for a child or adolescent aims at helping them to recognize and understand the difficult behaviors they reveal and emotions they experience. Therapy serves as an emotional support while also providing them with tools and strategies to cope and problem solve in a self-directed fashion. The goals are set based on the child or adolescent needs. It may include reinforcing positive behaviors, reduce anxiety, and/or promote self-esteem. For younger children, psychotherapy is often supplemented with behavioural management as well. Additionally, therapists connect with the school to better facilitate academic goals and needs.
